A year and a half! Where has the time gone.

    I can't believe cade is already 1 and a half. Time has flown by. He is still such a delight. Still doesn't always sleep through the night. Still loves to laugh and explore. Still loves the beach and people. He talks a lot but also loves to sit in his chair and "read" his books. He is fascinated by the littlest things and loves observe everything.
He still loves all things cars, tractors, dump trucks, machines. The sound that always stops him in his tracks is a siren, he loves fire engines, ambulances, cop cars etc. He makes the best faces and is very enthusiastic in his words and emotions right now. We crack up all the time when he seems something normal but stops and screams wow or woah and is so amazed. He is learning to color but doesn't seem to understand why daddy has marker all over him but he isn't supposed to put marker on himself. :)
     He loves to climb and be at the beach. We have spent a lot of time at my parents over the past few months and cade and the chickens are best friends. When we are there he is literally outside all day long. He loves the dirt, loves water, mud, shovels, washing the car, sweeping, vaccuuming and climbing. He is the cutest little guy and yet such a mister mischief. We are so enjoying each day with him and learning patience as well. Toddlerhood is in full force with the tantrums and the frustrations of us not understanding him but the Lord is so gracious and gives us the strength and patience we need. It has really given us a clear picture of our attitudes toward the Lord a lot of times too and made us laugh with wow we must look ridiculous.
In July i got to go out to Austin and spend some time with my best friend jill and their new baby tori. It was so good to get to hang out and help her out a little bit. It was my first trip away from cade and it was hard but also a good break.
    Nick and I also celebrated our 5 year anniversary. We had the whole day to ourselves and did the most random things. It was wonderful. We walked and hung out on the beach, we shopped a little, had leisurely lunch at a restaurant, got some coffee at verve and grabbed dinner at shadowbrook where we had dinner the night he proposed to me. We then came back and had birthday cake with nicks parents for nicks dads birthday. It was a great day.
   We are loving being in Santa Cruz and so close to the beach. Ministry is slowly forming and it is really exciting to see the directions the Lord is taking it. We are so grateful for the community we are blessed with at Faith Community Church and loving getting to know the people. We have our continual challenges here in ministry and yet the Lord provides wisdom and strength. We have been challenged lately with the idea of letting the Lord fight for us, truly surrendering and seeing what the Lord does. Not being lazy or not caring but allowing the Lord, who is all powerful and all knowing, work, which requires us to get out of the way and just trust. It is such a challenging paradigm but we are seeing such freedom and excitement from it.
This is such an amazing season and we are so grateful for the place the Lord has us in. We feel so truly blessed.

So we've moved twice, started to adjust to santa cruz, and just been so busy. But we are all doing well. Cade is growing like a weed. He is almost 30 pounds and getting taller by the day. He talks non-stop and is walking and climbing on everything. He loves to laugh, loves all things cars and still lights up a room. He is an amazing little boy who enjoys life and all that it brings. He has done amazing with this transition in moving and being here and there. Two awesome things about living in Santa Cruz are that we get to go to the beach any day we want and Cade has a friend down the road that he gets to hang out with daily. Cade loves the beach, the water, the sand and loves being outside in the dirt, and in his wading pool. He loves his bike and skateboard. He loves handy manny and cars. He loves spicy food and loves his hats and shoes like his daddy. He loves shoes so much that whenever he sees them he says "oooooh" (sounds like shoe without the sh but i realize that baby words are hard to spell haha). His favorite pair of shoes right now are his Disney cars crocs and occasionally he has to wear them into the bathtub as well. He teaches us so much daily and we are amazed by him. He is such a joyful and sweet boy who has a very strong opinion on things :). Each day is such a blessing to be parents and at times so trying but we have loved this amazing journey so far. So sorry this has taken so long but between packing, moving, trying to adjust, traveling, weddings and now repacking we have been swamped. But here is the happs:
-our little man is 14 months now
-still crawling but takes steps and walks to you
-does funny crawls
-loves to laugh and thinks a lot of random things are funny
-says doodie for dog and makes barking noises
- loves the phone and says hello and holds things up to his ear
-talks non stop
-loves the beach and crawls head first into the waves
-started biting and is somewhat stopping for right now
-still loves his bottle
-loves all trucks right now
-learned to kiss and tickle and make jokes
-he loves curry, cumin and garlic and all things dairy
-he makes people laugh and smile
-he is always on the go and brings so much joy to life

As far as our life right now, it is busy and still very much in transition. Check out our ministry blog at hartfamsc.wordpress.com for our updates on how ministry is going. But things are hard, amazing, wonderful, stressful, beautiful and overwhelming all at the same time. We are all still adjusting and actually looking for house number 2 to rent soon because the rental are in just sold on auction. So we would love to find a place to unpack for a little longer then the 2 weeks we've been there so far. And know the Lord will provide. We are loving living at the beach and love the community of Santa Cruz so far. We are getting to know our way around and love that a tank of gas lasts us way over a week or two. We so appreciate your prayers in the transition and hope you all are doing well.

It is crazy to think that a year has gone by already. Our little man turned one today! He is amazing. Its funny because Nick and I were talking about how much we have learned in our first year of parenting and how much we still have no clue about. haha. isn't that how life goes.

Well, i have tons of pics to publish so ill update you all and then get them up little by little.

Cade's conquests over the past month:
-got his cast off!!!!!
-learned how to crawl fast with the extra weight of the cast so now he can crawl at super speed without it
-his attempts at walking were slowed a bit by the cast especially being able to stand without holding things so he is working on that
-we did look over in the middle of a conversation about how we were convinced he could stand on his own to see him standing
-he only does it on his own time and doesn't want to do it when you encourage him too
-he is all energy but such a sweet boy
-he makes hysterical faces, and has a mouth full of teeth to smile at us with
-he still loves people and loves other kids
-he loves books again and now doesn't eat them as much
-he loves anything with wheels and could spend hours on his bike
-the faster he can go the bigger he smiles
-he lunges, pounces, dives, rolls and flips on and off of things
-he loves to lick everything his favorite are still shoes and has been known to spit up and lick it off the floor, disgusting i know!!!
-he now says dooog, uh oh, hello, he tries to say i love you back when you say it to him
-he loves phones and computers, so any time the phone rings he stops what he's doing his eyes get big he crawls really fast towards the sound and says hello
-he can throw a mean temper tantrum but is really pretty mello kid
-he developed this hand motioned for no when he was really little and we've started using it with him for things that mean no and so whenever he knows he is doing something he isn't suppose to he turns around and smiles and makes his no sign. haha! but he hasn't figured out yet that that means he needs to remove himself from the situation, i guess that's to come later.

-we had a fun paul frank birthday party for him where my friend joanna made an amazing mango paul frank cake cuz cade loves mango and i made a funfetti cake paul frank cake because every kid needs a funfetti cake!!!

-We also love making custom shirts so we started a tradition of making him a birthday shirt. so this year it is paul frank in theme with his party. It turned out super cute!

-Cade still has an amazing gift of stopping people in their tracks and getting them to look intently at him which is so cool cuz we know that people just see the Lord in him. My favorite comment the other day was from a lady that stopped dead in her tracks in the parking lot and said, "you are God's expression aren't you". I was honored and blown away.

-we love our little man and can't believe a year went by so fast!

As far as our lives are going, we are currently about 75% fully supported and looking for a place to move to in Santa Cruz. We are so excited to get started working at Faith Community Church and can't wait to move down there. this past months adventures

So 10 months hit and Cade has become a ever moving wild man. Not unruly but just fearless and wanting to do anything and everything. i joke that he tries to kill himself everyday with ordinary things that one would never think could do any harm. He is still all smiles and all boy. He loves trucks, and wheels, bikes, and balls. He has smelly feet and licks anything and everything. He had a good first christmas but was a bit overwhelmed by everything so that was a little anti-climactic. He loves to play and loves to explore new things. He has found the joy of a cardboard box and still thinks harry is hysterical. He loves to hang upside down and ride on anything that moves: his bike, our old rocking horse or his train. He loves brushing his teeth and now laughs at things that are funny. He just started saying doe and pointing at harry and says mmmm when he likes certain foods. He also laughs when i take off my glasses apparently that is funny looking to him.

3 weeks ago we took him down the slide and thought we'd video his first time down the slide and only to have his leg bent back and him scream bloody murder at the end. I was filming and the sun was in my ideas so i had no idea what happened. we took him to minor injury the next day and he got a foot x-ray and they said it was fine, 2 weeks later i took him back because he didn't want to stand on it and would wince occasionally. come to find out he had fractured his tibia(shin bone) and had been crawling and cruising around on it that whole time. So now he is in a full leg cast! And we just found out today that he gets it off on the 27th!!! We can't wait because he is a stinky boy, sponge baths are not good enough for him and his cast smells awful already!!! He's a trooper but it has screwed with his sleep so much. we also realized how much pain he must have been in before because now he crawls everywhere, pulls up on anything, cruises around the furniture, climbs over stuff, tries to walk, takes steps, and flings himself at things. He is adorable with his cute orange cast!

As for us, we are just starting our process of fundraising for our position in santa cruz. Most think it is crazy to take on that task but we know it is where God is calling us and know He will provide. I'm in process of writing our letter right now and will post it with the pic as soon as i finish as it shares our process over the past few years since we've been back.

We feel immensely blessed by our friends, family and the Lord's leading. We can't wait to see what is in store for this next season. We love you all!

10 months!

Aghh its amazing how fast time is going by. I can't believe that last Christmas I was still pregnant and waiting 2 more months to see our little man. We have been busy and so has Cade. I'll warn you ahead of time, my lupus is flared and i've been on prednisone and so my mind is going a million miles a minute and so i hope this makes sense.
- Cade:
-will be 10 months on Saturday. It is crazy. He has grown like crazy. He is starting to lean out a bit and when i say a bit i mean a tiny bit :) but he has grown a ton lately.
- at his 9 month check up he was 23 pounds and 30 inches and his head was almost 19 inches
- he got his first ear infection in hawaii
- he crawls like a maniac and pulls up on the few things we have to pull up on
- we lowered his crib because he thinks its fun to stand and hang his head over the rail
- he loves to eat and like his mommy loves anything with cheese in it
- we had our first trip to minor injury today because we took him down the slide and his foot got stuck and bent backwards so he has a sprained foot.
- as sad as it is it is super cute to see him hold his little foot up
- he still loves the water and his bath. he thinks it is really fun to see how much water he can get out of the tub and all over nick.
- Cade can now catch harry the dog and thinks it is so fun to grab his feet. Harry does not appreciate Cade's newer mobility.
- he still doesn't sleep through the night no matter what i try but he has started taking 2 naps a day in his crib!!! For at least an hour or 2. I never knew how much i can get done or how nice it is to get a nap myself. :)
- he says mama, dada, baba, hi, bu and zzz so i think he's close to saying buds :) and then he babbles a whole lot of randomness in between
- he is all boy! he screams, bangs and makes all kinds of noises. He loves balls, hammers, tractors and trucks.
Cade is amazing. We love him and he is such a delight. it is so cool to watch him develops each day.

As far as us, we just found out today that nick got a job in Santa Cruz at Faith Community Church as basically the developer of youth ministry. We have been in conversation with this church for quite a few months now and today we got the final confirmation. We are really excited and i can't wait to share our whole process and journey with you all!

Aloha everybody, so its been awhile. But i figured now that i have some time since we are chilling in Maui (jealous I know you are :) ) It is crazy to believe that Cade is 9 months. He has now been outside of me longer that he was in-utero. Nick and I were talking and it feels like Cade does something new everyday. He is growing so much, his personality is developing more and more, he discovers new things, learns new skills, his hair keeps growing and he laughs more and more.
-he still doesn't fully crawl but is fully capable
-he took his first steps yesterday
-he would rather be on his feet all day
-he loves kicking things and stomping on things
-he laughs all the time
-he has hair that would make anyone jealous
-he smiles at everyone
-he has 6 teeth now and the top front ones are huge
-he went in the ocean for the first time
-he loves the sand on the beach and it doesn't bother him when in goes in his mouth, eyes, ears, nose or booty for that matter
-he can stand and hold on to things
- he loves his baths and any kind of water for that matter
-he is growing by leaps and bounds: he is a big kid he has his 9 month check up when we get back
-he still loves all kinds of food and one of his new favorites are mac n cheese and grilled cheese
-he still refuses to drink out of a sippy cup and loves to drink out of a regular cup which is super messy as you can imagine
-He did amazing on the flight over here to maui and that is the longest we have flown with him.
-He consumed more food and liquid that day then i think i did. He can pack the food away.
- He has now sucessfully peed, pooped and puked on the floor in my grandparents house here in maui. haha such a little boy
-he is all boy! He loves to stomp, smash, bang, scream, grunt,splash and move. He is so much fun and such a handful already.
-We love you guys and hope you are all doing well! Ill try and get the pics and videos up soon.

Almost 8 months

So its crazy to think that our little man is closer to 1 year old then to birth. Lately it seems that Cade is more and more like a little boy than a baby. His a big kid around 22 pounds and a huge head and growing like a weed. He laughs freely, eats like there is no tomorrow, loves to be in anything that moves and wants to walk barely holding on to your finger all day too. He now does the worm backwards instead of crawling and gets so frustrated that he can't walk, crawl or get where he wants on his own. He is a passionate little boy with his own opinions and i think he has started his "opinionated twos" at 8 months. He throws little tantrums when you take away things he wants, and when he can't do what he wants. Overall, though he is such a sweet amazing little man. We love him so much. He thinks harry the dog is so funny, loves to laugh and has a smile that can change your mood in a second. He loves to hear his voice, look at himself in the mirror and talk. He says hi, dada and mama. He makes the funniest grunts and screams. He loves to kick his soccer ball and ride on his little bike.
the other night i was sitting holding Cade as he was drinking his bottle and just reflecting on what an amazing blessing he is to us. Cade is such a reflection of the Lord to us. He loves recklessly, desires closeness and deep connection and laughs freely. He reminds us to breathe, to enjoy the moments and to take note of the little things. Sometimes i just sit there and watch him and wonder, as he examines things, what he is thinking about. I love watching him explore and figure out what his teeth do or what his fingers do. It is amazing what the Lord lets us been in on as we can watch a little person learn, grow and experience things for the first time. We feel so truly blessed and love our little man so deeply. He is such a joy!

Hey everybody,
so its been a few weeks and it seems like a lot has happened.
-Cade got his second tooth
-He realized what his teeth do and has found a new love for crunchy finger foods cuz they make sounds on his teeth
-he walks while holding on to our fingers everywhere
-he can make loops around our house in the walker (so there are gates up)
-he now sleeps on his stomach and worms around in his crib all night
-still doesn't feel like crawling but insists he knows how to walk
-he throws temper tantrums (early i know)
-he loves to laugh and is super ticklish
-he says mama, hi and uh oh
-he babbles non stop
-loves to grunt and scream to hear his voice
-no object is safe if its within reach
-still eats like a champ
-he road on his first little bike, we put him in the seat and he immediately sat forward and leaned over the handle bars and just hangs on while you push him.
- he still charms everyone
-he has hair to die for and a smile that is amazing
-he still loves his bath
-i still have to get the knots out of his hair daily
-he loves to play
-he loves harry the chihuahua and was not phased when harry bit at him
- he loves to stand
-he thinks he can do thinks he can't and just tries anyway so he will be sitting and then just lunges towards something and wipes out or lunges out of your arms or off your lap so he keeps you on your toes!
Cade is amazing. He teaches us so much about the father's love for us and about patience, and selflessness. He truly brings so much life to people it is amazing to see the Lord's hand on his little life already. We love our little man so much! And hope you enjoy our recent pics!

So Cade is 7 months man time flies by. We can't believe are little man is closer to a year than a newborn. It is crazy!!! Cade got his first tooth in minnesota and i think the next is coming hopefully tonight because he has been miserable and chewing on everything in sight. The poor guy is normally happy and was so fussy today and last night. He just started licking the cherios on his tray instead of just playing with them. He also wouldn't grab our hands or grab onto things when he was standing but just started doing that a couple days ago and now walks like crazy while just holding onto your fingers. so its been forever since i posted and so i'll try and hit the highlights.

- cade sits up like a pro
-he tries to run after harry the dog but can't walk on his own
- he wants to walk but won't let you hold his hands so you have to hold onto his shirt or armpits
-he loves harry the dog and thinks he is hysterical
- he had his first trip to the zoo with his nona and papa
-he went to minnesota and met his great grandma chippy and great grandpa bucky
- he got his first tooth
-he loves to be in the pool
-he went in a go cart for the first time
-he eats everything in sight
-he loves to chew on everything
-he loves his bath still
-we got him a walker even though we aren't supposed to and he loves it!!!
-he is a man that loves to be moving
-he talks up a storm
-he smiles so much and laughs hysterically when tickled and when we do funny things
-he loves books
-he got his first formal pics taken at 6 months
-he had his first trip to the er for a throat infection
-he has no interest in crawling and looks like a beached whale or like he is trying to surf on his stomach
-he holds his hands up to you when he wants to be picked up
-he hugs you and snuggles so much it is awesome
-he loves to fake cough for attention
-he loves to scream really loud to hear his voice
- he still hates his car seat
-he has a mop for hair i can't keep up on it
-he still has blue eyes
-his hair is brownish blonde now
-at 6 months he was 20 pounds 27 inches(i think) and his head was off the charts 18 1/4 inches haha lots of brains!
Cade is such an amazing passionate kid. When he is happy he is happy and when he isn't he really isnt. overall he is super smiley and so fun! He loves to play right now and it is so cool to see the life he brings to so many people and the smiles he brings to random strangers faces. We love our little man and treasure each day with him. We can't believe he will be 7 months in two days!

Weeks 21-23

So we have been all over the place. Here are the highlights:
-cade went on his first plane ride to austin and back and did awesome
-we had a great time there but Cade decided not to sleep while there so we were tired
-we had an amazing time staying with our friends Jill and Lamar and there son tyler and got to hang out with tons of friends
-he also helped tyler potty train while he was there and fit in his 2t undies, my kid is getting big!

-Cades new conquests:
- grabs his feet
- can polish off a whole 4 oz jar of food and an 8 oz bottle of formula at one sitting
- intentionally grabs things
- can pull my glasses off my face
-spins around in his crib at night
- can roll but would rather stand
- stands on his feet all the time and then squats down and stands back up
- stands up and holds on to things
- raises his hands to have you pick him up
- he is super ticklish
- loves to scream just to hear how loud his voice can go

-cade is super active, laughs freely, is still teething and such a joy most of the time :)
- he went on his first run with nick for 5 miles in the jogging stroller and did awesome.
- he shows no interest in crawling but just tries to walk, i swear he is just going to up and walk away one of these days

We love our little man and he is such a breath of fresh air during this season of life!

week 20

Its crazy to think Caderman is 5 months. Well he's 20 weeks which equates to 5 months but his birthday is the 26th of february so yah i don't know how that all works. But anyway. Our little man is awesome! We love him so much. He has been making so many noises lately and is still teething. He also had his first play date with his buddy Knox and they greated each other with laughs and smiles it was hysterical. My brain is kind of mush but Cade ate a lot, slept a lot and cried because of his teeth that are trying to come in. He is such a cool kid and it is so amazing to see the Lord's hand on him and the ways he can already minister to people's souls. He laughs freely and smiles with his whole body and his eyes twinkle when he smiles. He is such a life bringer. Our big boy was weighing in last week at 18 pounds and loves to eat all kinds of food. He also loves looking at himself in the mirror and thinks the baby in the mirror is so cute!!! Well, here are the pics from this past week. we hope you enjoy!

it is crazy that cade is almost 5 months! This week has gone by super fast and it has been a great week. Cade got over his cold, stopped screaming from the teething pain and has gone back to his chill self which has been awesome. He had his first fourth of July and went in a pool for the first time. He loved it. We went to the beach again today and the outlets and he was awesome! We love our little man so much and he cracks us up. He makes the most awesome noises and talks non stop. It is such a gift from the Lord to have him in our lives. He shows us so much about the Lord and how lavishly He loves us. Hope you enjoy.

week 16, 17, 18

so we finally have internet! So i'm trying to get caught up. We have had an awesome and hard couple of weeks. Well, lets see if I can remember it all. Cade had his second set of shots, which he did great but was a bit miserable afterward. He also started eating rice cereal which he loved! He now has added sweet potatoes, carrots, bananas, avacado, papaya and pears. He loves his food. He eats full jars of food at a sitting plus a full bottle, and still can only make it three hours in between feedings. He went on a 6 mile walk with me and my mom and nick. He did great! He got a cool bike helmet with flames on it and modeled it proudly. Cade now talks himself to sleep, it is pretty funny. He learned to take his pacifier out of his mouth and put it back in. Nick got sick, gave it to me and cade. We went to oregon for family time at the pacific crest triathlons. Nick was so sick he didn't get to participate but my dad, sister, mom and cousins did and it was cool. Cade did amazing! He rode in the car for 9 hours each way and only cried a couple times. It was awesome! His teething is still in full force and looks as if he could get 3 or 4 teeth at once. He loves standing and takes steps when you hold his hands. He loves his exersaucer and likes to be on his feet as much as possible. We recently found out that he is ticklish and laughs when you tickle him. He now grunts when he lays on his tummy and tries to crawl all the time. He still rolls over and can roll both ways. He now enjoys laying on his side and sometimes we find him contorted in his crib trying to see something at a wierd angle. Cades laugh is awesome and he brings such joy to everyone. He is such a life bringer and it is such a joy to experience life with him each day. We love seeing him wake up in the morning and smile. His cries are piercing, and he has definate opinions on things. We love our little man and so enjoy watching him grow each day. He is growing so fast. He rules!!! Week 13, 14, 15

Sorry the posts are so in frequent we are still having internet problems so it takes forever for the pictures to upload. But these past few weeks have been crazy. Cade started teething, he started his first crawling motions, he rolled over, he sat up in his bumbo seat all by himself, he climbed over his boppy pillow, and he started enjoying tummy time more. It seems like he did so much so fast. He still loves to be outside and his baths. He has been super fussy because of his teeth trying to come in and is drooling like crazy. He smiles a ton and talks a ton when he isn't fussy. He now loves his bouncy seat more than his activity mat because he loves sitting up. He grabbed his toys for the first time this past week and made them play music on purpose which was so cool to watch. He also loves standing on his feet and takes steps forward or climbs up you. We can tell he already loves to be on the move. He is such a joy and normally sleeps most of the night however with the teething he has been waking up screaming which is tiring for us but hopefully those teeth will come in and he will go back to normal. He is normally pretty chill and easy baby. He is 15 pounds and still loves his bottle. He now licks his lips when you eat around him and knows his bottle. He sits in his high chair to eat and thinks the tray is fasinating. He went for a ride with grandpa griz(my dad) on the rhino(atv like thing) and loved the wind in his face. He is such a little boy already too, he burps, farts and smiles when he poops. He also started doing this shiver after he finishes pooping to let us know he is done. Its pretty funny. He is a big boy and is already in most of his 6-9 month clothes. We love our little man. He is such a joy and we learn so much from him each day. It is so amazing to watch a human being develope in front our your eyes and to see how the Lord knit him together. We went to santa cruz last week and he slept most of the time but it was fun to take him to the beach. He also had his second hair cut last week and had an inch cut off all over. Cade rules and we hope you guys enjoy the photos.

So we have been out of internet for forever it seems like. Cade is doing great and is three months old! He is awesome! We love him and he is growing so much. He is 14 pounds and 24 inches last time he was weighed and he loves to play on his back on his activity mat. He laughs and kicks like crazy. He actually scoots himself on his back around because he kicks and pushes with his feet so much. Its pretty funny. He also kicks so hard in his crib that we can hear him in the next room slamming his feet up and down on the matress. He is not a fan of being on his tummy so we are working on that. He always sleeps in crazy positions and smiles so big. He started laughing and squealing but always notices the camera when i try and catch it. i guess ill have to sneak up on him. He has also found his voice and squeals really loud to say hi sometimes. He also clearly has opinions on matters especially when he wants to eat. That is the only time he really gets hysterical. He still has all his hair and he needs a hair cut again. We love him so much and we love each day we get to spend with him. He now has no wrists because of the little rolls over them which are so cute and rolls on his legs too. We call his belly a budha belly because it sticks out so much! He loves his bath and loves to be outside. We just switched him out of his infant car seat because he was getting too heavy for me to lug around and because he got way to hot in it and hated it. sorry we've been out of internet for 2 weeks and i've been in and out of lupus flares the past month so things have been slow on the blog. So i will update this next weekend and hopefully we willl have internet this thursday. Cade's growing like crazy and things have been busy and we can't wait to post new pics and videos. 8 and 9 weeks!

So we have passed the two month mark. It is crazy, it is going by so fast. He just had his 2 month check today and got all his shots so Cade isn't super happy but he was a trooper! He weighed in at 12 and a half pounds and 22.5 inches long and his head is 16 inches around. He has been smiling a ton and started laughing as well. We moved him into his room 3 days ago and he has been sleeping good. He sleeps from about 8-9 to 3 and then goes back to sleep after eating and gets up with nick around 6:30-7:00. He has a new toy that he loves to kick and it makes animal sounds and plays music. He loves it and kicks it all day long. He is such an awesome little man and we love him so much! I can't believe it but Cade will be 7 weeks tomorrow. He has grown so much. He is getting chubbier and this past week he has started making even more noises. He still eats like a champ and decided that sleeping through the night once was good for him and has gone back to sleeping 3-5 hours at a time. He is awesome and smiles a lot and is super content. He still loves to be held and loves to be outside.

Merty and Cade

So merty has suddenly become interested in cade now that he moves his arms and legs a lot more and makes sounds. So this has been a busy couple weeks! But awesome. Caderman is growing like crazy and getting heavier! He still loves to eat and moves a ton. He has started smiling for real and cooing too! He loves his activity mat and actually will lay there for 45 mins just staring and swing his arms at his toys. He is a pretty content little guy still unless he is hungry or you take his bottle away to burp him. He has been on a skateboard with daddy and slept through it and loves to go for walks in the park with me. He loves to be outside and likes to have his hair blow in the wind. He has not lost any hair and had his first hair cut on monday. He is still so awesome! We love him and are enjoying everyday with him.
Also this past week was my birthday! My first birthday as a mom was awesome. Nick flew my best friend Jill out from austin as a surprise. It was amazing! We got to hang out and go to the park and catch up like there was no time lost. We had so much fun. And it was so awesome for Aunty Jill to meet Cade! It was so fun to share that time together.

4 weeks last thursday!!!

So Cade was a month old on last thursday! We can't believe how fast time has gone by. Cade is awesome! He is still quite the chow hound! He loves to eat and assert his opinion when we stop to burp him in the middle of his feeding. He is a pretty good sleeper at night but has gotten a little colicky. He loves going to lunch with dad and going for walks in the park. We love being parents and continue to find a better rhythm in our new life.
I know i've said it before but Cade rules and we are loving each new day as he grows and does new things. He has started tracking us as we move back and forth and lifts himself up a lot when he's laying on your chest. He loves lights and now follows toys back and forth as well. He has started getting chubby cheeks and a big old belly but still has his skinny legs and arms. He is super cute!!! At four weeks he was tipping the scales at 9 1/2 pounds!

3 weeks!

So Cade was three weeks old thursday!!! It's crazy how quick each week goes by. He is awesome! He still loves to eat and usually sleeps between 3-4 hours at a time. We love him so much and so enjoy seeing him grow. Both Nick and I have said it is amazing how tired you can be and he will do something so little and you will just laugh or be so taken by him and how much we love him. Don't get me wrong having a newborn is one of the most taxing things we have done so far but the Lord is gracious and gives us the strength we need each moment. Nick and I were talking last night just about how much we are learning about the Lord through being parents. It really gives you a tiny picture of how much the father loves us and takes delight in our littlest things. I've been reflecting on how the Lord lavishly loves us and yet how he can empathize with our struggles. We feel so blessed by the Lord for the ways he pours His grace out on us. Cade rules and our family is amazing and it is so great to have them to support us this whole journey.
so back to Cade... he rules!!! He loves to be naked in his skull blanket and is pretty content except when he is hungry. He loves his daddy and the time he gets each morning with him and Nick is an amazing dad! Cade surprised us the other day by rolling over from his tummy to his back twice. Crazy little guy! He is strong and has lovely lungs when he chooses to use them. We think he is part paranah because when he gets hungry he scrunches his face and shakes his head back and forth while trying to suck on the air. It's pretty funny! He isn't disturbed by loud noises so that we so appreciate. He slept through nick holding him and vaccuuming this morning and through his first ride on the john deere. Overall he is awesome!!!

so we have hit the two week mark! As of thursday Cade was two weeks old and quite the cute little man. My bud has been amazing. He has had 3 weeks off work and has been the most amazing dad and care taker for both of us. Without his help I know that I would not have recovered as quickly and Cade would not be as bonded to his daddy as he is. I can't say enough but I love my bud so much and he is an amazing dad!
So back to Cade. He is a delight. He is pretty mellow just cries when he is hungry and then occassionally gets fussy for no reason. But over all he is a pretty easy baby i think. We are all captivated by him and love him so much. We are adjusting to sleeping in incriments and getting use to the what seems like millions of diaper changes a day. He has officially grown to 7lbs 4 oz and loves to eat. He is a growing boy! He loves to have no clothes on and moves around like crazy! So yah, we love our boy and thought we'd share some pics with you from week two! enjoy!
